It is possible that there will be additional scholarships available so please check this website, listen for school announcements, check the black filing cabinet, and bulletin board in the Guidance Office for updates.
*Most of these scholarships will be awarded at the Senior Awards Night to be held on Wednesday May 14, 2008 at 7:00 PM.

Scholarships That Require Separate Applications
American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship
Senior must be attending a two or four year school. Family member must belong to the Legion or Auxiliary. Due: March 28, 2008
American Legion Scholarship
Student must be going to a two or four year college. Parents DO NOT need to be a member of the legion. Due: March 28, 2008
Arc Monroe County Scholarship **ALUMNI ONLY** (Information not available yet) Applicant must be enrolling in their second or more year of post high-school education. Applicant must be majoring in a field that concentrates on serving, teaching or rehabilitation of persons with disabilities / special needs.
Area Community Theatre Scholarship
For students currently involved in and/or pursuing the arts in their post-secondary education. Students with backgrounds in art, music, and/or theatre are encouraged to apply. Due: March 28, 2008
Auxiliary of Franciscan Skemp Scholarship
Open to any senior with a minimum of 3.0 GPA who is enrolling in a health career program at a two or four year college. Due: March 28, 2008
Badgerland Farm Credit
Up to twenty scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who are pursuing their interest and studies in an agriculture related field at a short course, technical school, or college. Applications available in the Guidance Office or online at www.badgerlandfcs.com Due: Must be postmarked by March 17, 2008.
Brenengen Sparta AutoGroup Scholarship-Automotive Technology
Open to any senior with a minimum of 2.5 GPA and planning on attending a college or technical college in the field of Automotive Technology. Due: March 28, 2008
Brenengen Sparta AutoGroup Scholarship-Business
Open to any senior with a minimum of 2.5 GPA and attending a college or technical college in the field of Business Management or Accounting. Due: March 28, 2008
Foundation Scholarship
The Foundation will offer fourscholarships to 2008 Sparta High School, Sparta High Point Charter, and SAILS Charter graduates. Students must be attending an accredited post secondary intsitution and can be pursuing any degree. Due: March 28, 2008
Good Citizenship Scholarship
This scholarship is available for a graduating male senior who will be continuing their education at an accredited school. Due: March 28, 2008
June Family Agriculture Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a 2008 graduate of Sparta High School, Sparta High Point Charter, or SAILS Charter School. Primary consideration will be given to students with family farm or agribusiness background. Due: March 28, 2008
Mabel E. Dupee Scholarship
**Sparta Alumni can also apply each year.**
Union National Bank handles this trust and makes the selection. Applications may also be picked up from the Union National Bank. Students must be attending a two or four year college. Due: March 28, 2008 to Union National Bank
Mark D. Wall Memorial Rotary Scholarship
Scholarship will be awarded to graduating senior with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and pursuing a career in health care. Due: March 28, 2008
Monroe County Farm Bureau Scholarship
Student must be a family member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau Federation and be going to school in Agriculture; it may be a Farm and Industry Short Course, a technical school or college. Due: April 15, 2008
Monroe County Farm Progress Days Scholarship
Student must live in Monroe County or have lived in Monroe County at the time of graduation. Must be enrolled in a post high school agricultural short course or vocational-technical college program. Due: April 1, 2008
Monroe County Home & Community Education Association Scholarship Student must be a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a Monroe County Home & Community Education member. Student must be currently attending or planning to attend a college or technical school. Due: March 28, 2008
Morrow Memorial Home Scholarship
Available to students who are pursuing a professional career in long term health care related fields. Due: March 28, 2008
Rebekah Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to students who have a genuine need for financial assistance. Student must be planning at least a 2-year course of further education. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Due: March 1, 2008
Sparta City Fire Department Scholarship
The Sparta City Fire Department and Sparta Rural Fire Department are jointly offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who is enrolled in a two or four year program immediately following graduation with an intended major in Fire Medic, Fire Protection Engineering Technician, Fire Protection Technician, Fire Science, or Paramedic Technician. Due: March 28, 2008
Sparta Cooperative Services Scholarship
Student must be a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a Sparta Cooperative Member and may be enrolling in any field of study. Due: March 28, 2008
Sparta Girls Basketball Association Scholarship
The Sparta Girl's Basketball Association is offering a scholarship to a senior girl(s) who were active in the Sparta High School Girls' Basketball Program and will be attending any post secondary school. Due: March 28, 2008
Sparta Lionesse Club Scholarship
Senior must be planning to attend a college or university, or a technical school as a full time student. Due: March 28, 2008
Sparta Rotary Club Scholarship
Student must be going to a two or four year college. Due: March 28, 2008
Sparta Women's Association Scholarship
Student must be going to a two or four year college or a technical college. Due March 28, 2008
Sparta Women's Golf Association Scholarship
The Sparta Women's Golf Association is offering a scholarship to a senior girl(s) who were active in the Sparta High School Girls' Golf Program. Due: March 28, 2008
Snowmobile Trails of Monroe County
One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior planning to enroll in a two or four year institution of
higher learning. Guidelines and applications available in the Guidance Office. Due: Postmarked no later than March 1, 2008.
Three Rivers Golf Association
Open to any graduating senior (one male, one female) attending college next year. Also two (one male, one female) golf scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. Due: April 30, 2008
Tilling Thyme Garden Club Scholarship
**Sparta Alumni can also apply.**
Applicants must be entering Horticulture, Environmental Science or a program in a related field. Essay to include your goals and how your course of study will help improve our land / environment. Preference will be given to graduating seniors. Due: March 28, 2008
Travis Berry Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating senior who intends to continue his/her education at an accredited school of higher education. While in High school the candidate must have taken some classes in mechanics or other technical education classes. It is the family's wishes that the recipient enjoy the outdoors also. Due: March 28, 2008
VFW Scholarship
Student must be attending a two or four year college. Parents DO NOT need to be a member of the VFW. Due: March 28, 2008
Local Vietnam Veterans VVA Chapter 462 Scholarship
Available to a student who will be attending college or technical school full time. The student applying does NOT need to be a descendent of a Vietnam Veteran.

Paul & Mabel Affeldt Memorial Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior planning to pursue any educational field in formal schooling, apprenticeship or on the job training.
Swede & Ernita Aney FFA Award
Open to senior members who are in FFA at Sparta High School. Applicants must have at least a 2.7 GPA and have exemplary behavior in school. Open to any major.
Christopher Baltz Memorial Scholarship
Senior student must be planning to attend a two or four-year college in art education, commercial art, interior design, mechanical design, graphic art, art history, or art management.
Barbershoppers Scholarship
Graduating Senior who will be attending an accredited post secondary school. Preference will be given for student involvement in chorus or band.
Curtis Behrens Memorial Scholarship
For senior student who will be attending an accredited post secondary school.
Dr. Jack Brown Student Athlete Memorial
Available to any senior who has earned at least a 2.5 Cumulative GPA. Two scholarships will be awarded (one female, one male.) Must be attending an accredited post secondary institution pursing any health related degree.
Cataract Sportsman
Senior student must be going to a two or four year school in the study of biology, forestry, environmental science or an agriculturally related field.
Class of 1939 – 1989
Graduating senior must be attending a two or four year college.
Class of 1940 Music Scholarship
Senior student must be going into a music related career in college.
Class of 1981 Scholarship
Given to graduating senior student who will be attending an accredited two or four year college.
Class of 1983 Scholarship
Given to a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited two or four year college.
DECA Scholarship
Must be a member of DECA for at least two years. Open to any graduating senior pursuing a two or four year degree in any major.
FFA Alumni
Senior student must be going into an agricultural related career. Preference will be given to a FFA member.
Jason D. Finstad Memorial Scholarship
Senior must be planning to attend a two or four year college in the field of biology, forestry, environmental science, veterinary medicine or a related field.
Karen J. (Wright) Greeno Memorial Scholarship
Graduating senior must be attending a two or four year college in health therapy field such as recreational, occupational, physical, speech, or music therapy.
Karen Greeno Memorial Gatorfest Run/ Walk Scholarship
Student must be attending an accredited school pursuing a certificate or degree in the medical or therapy field.
Winona Haney Memorial Scholarship
Open to any senior planning to attend a two or four year college in the fall who has demonstrated academic achievement, good citizenship, and need.
Don (Big D) Hoeft Memorial Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior with a minimum of 3.0 GPA or higher intending to pursue a four-year degree.
Bill (Bubba) Hoeft Memorial Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher intending to pursue a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Marketing.
Neil R. Jacobs Memorial Scholarship
Senior student must be attending a two or four year school going into an agriculture, mechanic or aviation career.
John Janusheske Memorial Scholarship
Senior student must attend a four-year college.
Jackson Electric Cooperative Scholarship
Awarded to a student whose parents or guardians are members of Jackson Electric Cooperative.
Jason Jeffers Memorial Scholarship
Open to any senior student attending a two or four-year college. Preference will be given to an individual who has participated in track & field and / or cross-country.
Kiwanis Club Scholarship
Available to any senior going to a two or four year college.
William M. (Bill) Klein Memorial Scholarship
Available to any senior with a 2.5 GPA attending a one or two-year technical college or a four-year college in any degree.
Lions Club Scholarship
Senior student must be going into field related to the common goals of the Lions Club, re: people with sight problems, or with physical or mental handicaps.
Phyllis Lundy Memorial Scholarship
Open to any senior with a 2.5 GPA planning to pursue a degree in education or medical field.
Masonic Scholarship
Graduating student must be attending a two or four year college.
Matthew Matson Band Memorial Scholarship
Available to any senior in good standing who has been an active band member during their senior year. Available for student attending an accredited school of higher education.
Matthew Matson Hockey Memorial Scholarship
Available to any senior in good standing who is currently a member of the Vipers Hockey Team in any capacity.
Alexander L. Nichol Memorial Scholarship
Open to any senior planning to attend a two or four year college in the fall.
David H. Pederson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to one male and female graduating senior who participated on Sparta High School golf team. The applicant must be enrolled in any length post-secondary program and for any field of study.
Prescott O. Piper Memorial Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior with a minimum of 2.5 GPA. May attend a one, two or four year degree program of any major.
Ann & Harold Schendel Memorial Scholarship
Open to any senior attending a two or four year college with the scholarship awarded at the beginning of the students second year in school.
Sparta Boys' Basketball Club
Graduating Sparta Boy's Basketball player must meet the following criteria. Complete 3 years of Boy's Basketball and complete their entire senior season (if person transfers from another school, years completed will count.) Must enroll in a two or four year college.
Sparta Education Association
Applicant must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and be attending a 4-year college. Preference will be given to a candidate majoring in education.
Sparta Remembrance Blood Drive Scholarship
Applicant must be attending an accredited post secondary school. Preference may be given to a teenage parent.
Byron Tucker Memorial Scholarship
Student must be planning to attend a four-year college with athletic participation considered.
Wendel Tucker Memorial Scholarship
Senior student must attend a two or four year college in the field of agriculture or building trades.
