Mission and Competencies

   
The Business and Information Technology Department believes that Business and Information Technology is an integral part of the total educational process. Business and Information Technology prepares students for their future endeavors in school, employment, life-long learning and personal experiences. Business and Information Technology provides a foundation for students to confidently adapt their skills to the demands of a complex global business network.



Business and Information Technology Students will be able to:

  1. communicate in a clear, courteous, concise and correct manner on personal and professional levels.
  2. select and apply current technology as it relates to present and future personal and business decisions.
  3. use financial procedures to make decisions about planning, organizing, and allocating resources.
  4. use critical thinking skills when studying microeconomic, macroeconomic, and global economic concepts.
  5. understand business operations and identify the skills necessary to become entrepreneurs.
  6. describe how marketing strategies are used in business to meet the needs of consumers.
  7. develop the ability to participate in business transactions in both domestic and international business and work in a variety of business and office settings.
  8. select and analyze information to make informed management decisions.
  9. apply basic legal principles to their roles as citizens, consumers, and employees.
  10. demonstrate interpersonal teamwork and leadership skills.
  11. explore careers and develop skills so students can make informed career choices.
