Mission

The mission of the Sparta Area School District's Agriculture and Natural Resources Department is to provide instruction in and about agriculture; serving all populations; developing the whole person; responding to the needs of the marketplace; advocating free enterprise and entrepreneurship; and utilizing formal instruction, experimental learning, leadership, and personal development.



Competencies

1. To develop an understanding of and appreciation for career opportunities in agriculture.

2. To develop agricultural competencies needed by individuals engaged in or preparing to engage in agricultural occupations.

3. To develop the ability and skills needed to exercise and follow effective leadership in fulfilling occupational, social, and civic responsibilities.

4. To develop human relation skills that are essential in agricultural occupations.

5. To develop a quality learning process through learning by doing, excellence in the classroom, laboratory examples, supervised agriculture experiences, and student organization.

6. To develop the values and behaviors to be a steward of NATURAL RESOURCES.

7. To develop technical skills that are essential in agriculture/agribusiness, Agriscience Students will be able to communicate in a clear, courteous, concise, and correct manner on personal and professional levels.
